Haiku?
Haiku , a term coined by the poet Masaoka Shiki (1867-1902) from two words: haiku ( fun ) and hokku (short) , is a poetic form of Japanese origin, highly codified . This is the poet Matsuo Basho (1644-1694) who would introduced into his work.

Cutting sounds in Japanese are thinner than in our language , we say for simplicity that the haiku has three verses composed by 5 , 7 and 5 syllables (the order is not important).

It is therefore a very short poem to say , in a playful tone, the evanescence of things : it can be funny, light, frivolous or sometimes ribald . The fall is often unexpected for amaze the reader .

Traditionally in Japan , it is handwritten on a single vertical line or sometime three .

Haikus are known in the West since the early twentieth century.
